It’s like rain on your wedding day | Blogtober Day Three

It’s October 3rd.

Today is our three-year wedding anniversary.

I awoke on October 3rd, 2015 to a perfect Autumn-in-Los-Angeles day. No rain in the forecast, a perfect smattering of clouds. A perfect day for an outdoor wedding in the Los Angeles mountains.

Today is different. A different perfect. I’m not wearing a white dress down the aisle today – I’m remembering it while sipping 135-degree coffee out of the new white Ember mug Sohrab got me as an anniversary present. read more…

8 quotes to get you in the Autumn mood | Blogtober Day Two

If you’ve already had the chance to read my post for Blogtober day one, you know that I’m a bit of a word nerd. That comes out in a million different ways – from learning languages to collecting typewriters.

Yes – typewriters!

I got my first two typewriters on the same day – as birthday gifts from my then-boyfriend (Sohrab!) and parents. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. My collection quickly grew, and I can now boast about my many typewriters, from the Dial typewriter I can hold in one hand to the Underwood editor’s typewriter that isn’t meant to move, it’s so heavy. read more…

Fall or Autumn? | Blogtober Day One

That means I’ll be sharing one blog post per day – and I intend to keep them on the spoopy side! 🎃 read more…

Celebrating personal transportation with the Super 73

Let me just preface this entire piece to say: I am a self-identified cyclist.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for my entire life, save a few years that I escaped to Honolulu to get my degree. I spent my younger years eager for the day I’d finally get my driver’s license – when I’d be able to carry my freedom in my wallet. But before I was “finally free,” I carpooled with friends. I rode my bike to school. Then, my electric scooter. I couldn’t wait to drive all on my own! Now, I’ve come full circle, looking to drastically reduce how much Sohrab and I use a car. We’ve done our research over the past year, knowing it would soon be time to part with one of our beloved MINI Coopers. Rather than move on to another, we decided we’d be on the hunt for an ebike that could replace it. In LA, that’s almost a joke! But we realized that enough of our car-driving is local enough that a bike and/or electric bike could do wonders for our environmental footprint. read more…

Why you need to go on a glacier cruise in Alaska

Just a few weeks ago, Sohrab and I were able to escape the California heat on a trip to the last frontier. There’s only so many days in a row that you can handle it being over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, am I right? And so, to Alaska we fled. As soon as we came in for a landing, I was entranced by the beautiful evergreen trees and gray skies… It’s every autumn/winter lover’s dream! 😍 I’ve already shared our itinerary for our recent weekend in Anchorage, but sometimes you have to see it to believe it. And believe me – you’re in for a treat! We explored the landscape with our new DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal which really helped us capture the magic of the place. read more…

4 eco-friendly products that will make your summer travel even better

Summer is the season of travel! And, as it’s winding down, we’re all scrambling to squeeze in just one more trip. But, even though we all love the destinations we’re heading to, the traveling itself can be a bit stressful on us and the planet. I’m always seeking out ways to make my footprint smaller, and my stress levels lower, and my travels are all the better for it. That’s why I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite eco-friendly travel essentials (in no particular order, of course)! read more…

A weekend in Anchorage, Alaska

Take a moment to think about Alaska. What’s the first thing that pops into your head?

Blankets of snow?

Incredible, craggy mountains?

Glaciers?!

Uh, yeah. Bucket list item, for sure.

And Sohrab and I have just checked it off! read more…

Be a tourist in your own town | Pirate Invasion

One of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles is how many unique events and places we have here. There’s such a wide range of options – no matter your taste or preference! For some, that means movie premieres or one-of-a-kind coffee shops. For others, that means Disneyland or cosplay conventions! While Sohrab and I absolutely love all of these things, we discovered yet another reason to love Los Angeles – the annual Pirate Invasion of Long Beach.

4 things to do on the 4th of July (when you’re not going to a BBQ)

Happy July! Now that we’re a few weeks into summer, I’ve been daydreaming about beach days, splashing around in pools on unicorn floaties, and sipping on margaritas as the sun sets. And now, the 4th of July is just a couple days away!

Over the years, I’ve celebrated the 4th of July in tons of ways. From partying at the beach in San Diego with my big family to finding some fireworks in the San Fernando Valley to watch from the back of mom’s big red truck, every year brings something new. This year is no different – in that it is different. In that I’m not really celebrating. Not the way that commercials on daytime TV would prefer me to, anyway. 🤔

So if you, like me, aren’t planning to head to any 4th of July parties, fear not! There’s still plenty of options for you to make the most of your day off. (You do have the day off, right?) read more…

My travel bucket list

I’ve always been a world traveler at heart. From my obsession with different languages and cultures to the wide variety of locations that my geeky side draws me to, I have a long travel bucket list that Sohrab and I are chipping away at. Since there are a few that I’ve done and Sohrab hasn’t (and vice versa!), I’ve shown that with emojis 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️. Some of these seem far off, and some we checked off years ago.

When you want to see the world, narrowing it down to a singular bucket list is no small feat. That’s why I’ll be updating this post regularly – when we finally check things off, and with new places we discover! I’ll include links (some may be affiliate!) when it makes sense to. Happy traveling! read more…
