Disney Wedding

WEDDING STUFF:

We’ve been looking at wedding venues for a little while, making a list of what we’d like to look at more seriously. At the very top of the list was Petersen Automotive Museum, a modern place with a cool rooftop space that I was really keen on for the ceremony. I called the museum this past Sunday to see if I could get some more information about booking a wedding there, but the special events coordinator wouldn’t be in until Tuesday. No matter; I called back and was able to speak with her.

Bad news bears. She was wonderful to talk to but she told me that they wouldn’t be booking any events for 2015 because they’re doing a full-fledged renovation from January to October (or maybe even November) of 2015. NOOOOO. So, I guess we know where we aren’t getting married. Sad pandas. I suppose it wasn’t meant to be. On to the next one.

HOUSE STUFF:

The dishwasher drama continues. The range arrived as scheduled Tuesday morning, but when Sohrab asked the driver if he knew anything about the dishwasher situation, he admitted that he didn’t. Unsurprising. We decided that we would go to Home Depot and discuss the situation with them; if it will really arrive as late as March 15th, we’d have to pay for installation, whereas if we could get the dishwasher before our contractors are finished (which should be late next week), they would be able to install it at no extra cost.

After the confusion of Monday, I was hoping for smooth sailing at Home Depot. It wasn’t, but interestingly enough, we received good news. They actually have 55 units available for delivery, and if we were to set up a new order then and there we could get ours as soon as Saturday or Sunday. So why is ours delayed until March 15th? Apparently it was written somewhere that we had called to request that the dishwasher be delayed until then. As we had done no such thing, that was strange.

Sohrab was able to go back and negotiate with Home Depot to set up free installation if it would arrive as late as March, because our contractors will be gone by then, and they would be able to install it while they’re working. So whenever it ends up showing up, we’re good.

Then, to top it all off, I got a call from Whirlpool saying that the dishwasher will be delivered this upcoming Tuesday, February 25th. I mean, that’s excellent, and I hope that it’s true. But I’m not getting too excited about that just yet – it’s changed too many times to be certain.

So that’s where we are. Dazed and confused, but still chugging forward. In the end, we will have a wonderful dishwasher in a wonderful kitchen and I look forward to it.
